Take a Friend Shooting to Grow the Gun Rights Community

Yesterday I received an email from a regular reader who said she was a liberal (not a Libertarian) who stumbled across this website while looking for news about the Department of Homeland Security.  Though our politics differ on many issues, we are both strong supporters of civil rights, guaranteed by the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution.

I had never even touched a gun before let aside thought about owning one. Just reading your blog for DHS/ICE news I came across your firearm posts.  Well… last Saturday I bought a  Charter Arms .38 Special Pink Lady revolver. Been to the range twice and want to go every day. I am taking my CWP class tonight.

My two sisters, a friend and my 17 year old son (all Godless liberals) were so impressed with my shooting video that they are all going to the gun range with me on Sunday. So….thank you so much. I will never ever feel the fear that comes with being a woman of 100 Ibs and 5’2” (who is defenseless).  Oh… I also became a member of the NRA from a link on your web page.

This my friends, is the reason I post daily on Bonzer Wolf™. Second Amendment rights are more restricted by the government than any other civil right in the Bill of Rights.

If every reader of this blog invited just one person to the range in their lifetime, we would add thousands of firearms owners and Second Amendment rights supporters to our ranks.  This is how we grow the freedom loving, gun owning community and preserve and protect Second Amendment rights.

Fifteen percent of the U.S. population, representing 34.4 million people nationwide, went target shooting in 2009 according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation.  Firearms sales have increased every year since 2009 and are at a record high. There’s no doubt that more people are enjoying the shooting sports than ever before.

Frankly, I don’t care what your politics are as long as you support the Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment.  You won’t find many new posts about the liberal vs conservative issues that I addressed so often in the first year of this blog. I’m a Libertarian.  You can find my views on most political issues here.

The only legitimate use of force is in defense of individual rights — life, liberty, and justly acquired property — against aggression. This right inheres in the individual, who may agree to be aided by any other individual or group. This blog is currently focused on Second Amendment civil rights, concealed carry and the shooting sports.  This is an issue that should have traction with both Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are a necessary evil.

The mainstream media, not the Democrat Party is the most dangerous enemy of the Second Amendment.  Unlike politicians, the progressives in the media are not subject to the vote of the people. The media operates with complete impunity under the protection of the First Amendment. 

There are many voters who lean left and strongly support civil rights. It’s our mission to convince them to join us in our fight for Second Amendment rights. As you can see from the email, it can be done.

Second Amendment rights in America started to disappear after the civil war.  The passing of Democrat sponsored Jim Crow laws did the most damage to our Second Amendment rights since the founding of the Republic. Over the last thirty five years, we’ve been slowing restoring our rights.  Forty one states now have shall issue or Constitutional concealed or open carry laws. Only one state and the District of Columbia have a total ban on concealed carry of a handgun. 

Liberals, especially African Americans and Jews should be the STRONGEST supporters of Second Amendment rights for obvious reasons.  Yet because most of the leaders of the Democrat Party, and the so called leaders of the African American community support gun control, members of the Party go along to get along.  The ones who need protection the most are being put in harms way by their own Party.  Cops and criminals always have guns.  You can’t carry a cop with you, so you need to carry a firearm to protect yourself and your loved ones.

We don’t have to convince Libertarians and Republicans about the need to preserve and protect our Second Amendment rights and freedoms.  We need to convince Progressives who are being put in harms way everyday by their Party. 

Democrats, Republicans, tax rates, health care and socioeconomic issues are cyclical and will change many times during a lifetime. It’s the Bill of Rights that must remain constant.   The Bill of Rights must be preserved and protected for future generations to live free in America.

My deepest sympathies to the victims families of the shooting tragedy in Colorado. As a new gun owner I wish I was there. I bet if a few people in the theater had guns… the son of bit*h would be dead before he killed so many innocent people. I don’t know what the laws are in Colorado… but this is just another example why we should be armed.

Colorado is a shall issue state. Unfortunately, only a tiny percent of responsible law abiding citizens take advantage of their Second Amendment rights and the concealed carry laws in the 41 shall issue states. Situations like this call for a responsible, trained, armed citizenry. That is the only solution, not more gun control laws or gun bans that will be ignored by criminals. Thank you for stepping up and taking responsibility for your own protection. If every law abiding citizen did this, we would live in the safest, least violent country in the world.
