UN Small Arms Treaty Update

Just back got from the firearms range where I met three young college students exercising their Second Amendment rights. I enjoy interacting with young Americans who enjoy the shooting sports and support the right to keep and bear arms. They asked for some shooting tips and I was more than happy to pass on some pointers.

We have read reports that President Obama was scheduled to sign the UN gun ban treaty on July 27. We now have a conflicting reliable report that the US will NOT sign the treaty. More to come as we learn the truth. Small arms and light weapons and ammunition ARE included in the treaty.

All nations (not just signatories) are expected to “establish and maintain a national control system.” This includes enforcement, record keeping, reporting and publication. Proponents of the treaty state that it “should be viewed as a floor, not a ceiling, for the regulation of the arms trade.”

Also this week 26 more members of Congress have signed on as co-sponsors to the Second Amendment Protection Act (HR 3594), sponsored by US Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL). It now has 60 co-sponsors, and has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

No matter what happens on this UN Treaty, it’s time for hundreds of thousands of law abiding Americans to get their concealed carry permits/license. Don’t put it off any longer. Here’s a video from WeaponsEducation on YouTube. Please subscribe to these Second Amendment rights channels on YouTube. We need to send a message to the gun grabbers and politicians. Gun rights must be a priority.

Member states failed to reach agreement Friday on a new U.N. treaty to regulate the multibillion dollar global arms trade, and some diplomats and supporters blamed the United States for triggering the unraveling of the monthlong negotiating conference. Oh well.
