Bond Arms Texas Defender Made in Texas for Texans

During the 1860s, the demand for both the original Deringer (aka derringer or pocket pistol) and copies of it exceeded supply. It was a situation that, at the time, was reported as unparalleled in the history of the highly competitive American gun business.

150 years later Bond Arms, arguably the leader in production of quality derringer-style firearms is experiencing similar demand for its guns.

Bond Arms increased firearm production by 30 percent last year, but is still struggling to keep up with consumer demand. The demand for Bond guns is the result of founder Greg Bond’s commitment to designing and building superior derringer-style guns.

Last week we called almost 50 gun stores in a 200 mile range before finding a Texas Defender .45 Colt/.410 for sale.  I was surprised to find it at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Mesquite. Not one other store in the metroplex had it in stock, though many did have the Cowboy Defender and the Pink Mini models.

Bond Arms firearms stand out because of their commitment to perfection, including:

· Rebounding-and-locking hammer—a first for a derringer. The hammer automatically jumps back and locks into a half-cocked position for safety;
· A simple barrel-locking mechanism that is spring loaded and eases opening and closing of the barrels for quick reloading and cleaning;
· Heavy-duty stainless steel components for a lifetime of service;
· Precision machined parts for consistent fit;
· Sixteen interchangeable barrels in 22 caliber combinations including 45 LC/.410, .45 Colt, .45 ACP, .44 Spec,44-40, .45 Glock, 10 mm, .40 S&W, .357/.38, 9 mm, .32 H&R  .22 LR and .22 magnum
· All barrels can fit all frames;
· Lifetime warranty;
· Handmade in Granbury, Texas

One of benefits of a Texas Defender is the cross draw belt holster that comes with the gun.  When worn as a back up in the cross draw holster, the Defender is easily concealed on your belt and easily accessible while driving. It’s my little car jack counter-attack option.

The older we get, the more difficult it is to get to our strong side self defense pistol in an inside the waist band holster at the 4 o’clock position, while strapped behind the wheel.

The Texas Defender is a perfect solution if like me, you don’t want to keep a “truck gun” in the glove box or stuffed between the seats when you leave the vehicle.  Carrying the Texas Defender on the weak side is no more difficult than carrying an extra magazine.  It’s easily accessible and can be concealed with a T-Shirt because it sits sideways on your belt and has a profile similar to a cell phone in the specially designed cross draw holster.  The holster is quality leather and feature a velcro strap for easy on and off.

The Texas Defender (or any two shot pistol) would not be my first choice as a self defense pistol. And if I didn’t already have a dozen other self defense options, I wouldn’t even consider it.  But living in the great state of Texas, I’m fortunate to have options. I like the idea of having a Beretta Px4 Storm loaded with 21 rounds on the strong side, complimented by a two shot Texas Defender on the other side. Driving through south Dallas on the way to the range, the She Wolf’s office or the Little Wolf’s residence is a regular adventure for Mr. Wolf.

Freedom makes America the best and most unique nation on earth. We are a Constitutional Republic with a Bill of Rights that guarantees rights endowed by the Creator not Government.  I’ll never understand why Progressives are so intent on taking away freedom to choose anything except a women’s right to abort a human life.

We purchased the Texas Defender for $460 at Academy Sports and Outdoors .  It comes with a .45 Colt/.410 3 inch barre and a Bond Arms BAD Driving Holster. You wouldn’t want to shoot it all day at the range, but I had no problem firing it safely and accurately at close range with both calibers of self defense ammo (Winchester PDx1 Elite .410 and Hornady .45 Colt Critical Defense)

Here’s a video that 2brothersadventures posted on their You Tube channel showing some features and options on the Bond Arms Texas Defender. This is a very well built, small concealable gun that accepts different caliber barrels from .22 long rifle to .45 long colt / 410 shotgun. The barrels are quickly interchanged with an allen wrench. The interchangeable barrels can be purchased directly from Bond Arms in Granbury, Texas without going through an FFL as they are not the serial numbered part of the gun. The barrels cost between $139 and $159, depending on the length.

Looks Like Somebody Picked the Wrong Girl

Ladies, don’t become victims. The progressive propaganda machine is putting your lives at risk.

If you can drive a car, you can learn to run a gun safely.  Running a gun safely does not require above average intelligence or motor skills. Get training.  Get a gun.  Go to practice at a local range.

A .22 rim fire pistol is great for learning the basics. You can shoot hundreds of rounds inexpensively.  I don’t recommend a .22 as the best self defense firearm but nobody wants to be shot by one. A .22 is better than no gun and all.  Just pointing a gun at a home invader could save your life or prevent you from being sexually assaulted.

In 1981 Hinckley attempted to assassinate President Reagan with a 22.  One shot in the stomach dropped a secret service agent like a rock. One shot to the back of the neck dropped a police officer like a rock. Neither got up. One shot hit James Brady in the head, dropped him too. Did not get up. One bullet RICOCHETED off the car and hit Reagan on the left side under his arm in the chest. It hit a rib and went almost completely through his lung. The underestimated .22 can work for self defense and home protection.

While the .22 LR is essentially the “bottom floor” or last resort in caliber choice for self-defense, the compact nature of these handguns combined with low recoil and shootability could make it a viable choice for some. Everyone needs to own a .22 for practice because the ammo is so affordable.

We own a Ruger SR22 and shoot it regularly.  It’s not our first choice for self defense but it’s an option, for both self and home defense as well as an excellent first gun purchase.

Home Invasion Suspect Shot By Senior Citizen Who Fought Back

Don’t be a victim. Legally arm yourselves and to protect yourself and your loved ones. We the people need to send a message to home invaders.  Gun Free Zones kill innocent people.  Home invaders will be shot on sight. Deter crime and preserve our inalienable rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.

A felonious home invader got more than he bargained for when he targeted the wrong house in Jefferson County, Alabama.

The elderly woman he was trying to steal from fought back and shot him.

“I was awakened with a gun in my face hollering ‘give me all yo money and give me all yo jewelry’ and I screamed ‘I don’t have any money and I don’t have any jewelry,’” the victim, who does not want to be identified, said. “That didn’t satisfy [him]. Then he asked me about everyone in my house during this time I’m fumbling to get my gun. He pushed me down. I got up fought back.”

Deputy Chief Randy Christian from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect had an air rifle, similar to a BB gun.

“She didn’t know that at the time, she thought it was loaded. He knew it though. Sometime during the struggle, he put that down took out a keyhole saw. He cut her a few times superficially with that,” Christian said.

The victim was cut on her stomach and on her arm.

“Kept on fighting and another person in the house got up to see what the dogs were barking at and that distracted him. When that distracted him I finally got to my pistol and fired a round,” the victim said.

The suspect was found at UAB Medical West hospital. Deputies found him by calling the hospital and asking if they had a patient with a gunshot wound. When they arrived and interviewed the suspect, they say he had an interesting explanation for his injury.

“Tried to make up a story that he was at a party and shot himself on a dare,” Christian said.

“He felt like it was going to be easy especially when he saw me on oxygen and a woman. I can take her down, sorry,” the victim said.

The suspects name has not been released because charges are still pending. The suspect’s injury was very serious and at one point he was described as “touch and go.” Now deputies believe he will survive and he will be charged with armed burglary and assault.

Gun Control Will Not Stop an Active Shooter

Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.  America is the last remaining free country on earth and the Democrats are hell bent on taking that away from US.  Guns are used to save lives everyday in America but the media never reports it.

You don’t stop “Active Shooters” with gun control.  You stop felony shooters by being legally armed and competently trained to protect yourself and other innocents.

“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”

Samuel Williams is a Hero

Many thanks to a reader who notified me about this story in the Gainesville Sun.  Please let me know about any incidents you read about where concealed handgun carriers save lives.  Firearms save innocent lives everyday in the United States but the anti-gun media seldom reports it.

The Internet cafe patron who shot and injured two men as they committed armed robbery in Ocala, Florida will not face any criminal charges.  “Based on what I have seen and what I know at this time, I don’t anticipate filing any charges,” said Bill Gladson of the State Attorney’s Office for 5th Judicial Circuit.

Gladson said he has reviewed the security surveillance video from the cafe and the shooting appears justified.

Samuel Williams, age 71, has a concealed weapons permit. Under Florida law, a law abiding person can use deadly force if he or she fears death or serious injury to themselves or others if they are in a place where they have a right to be.

This is the so called “stand your ground” law that the Obamanation is fighting to repeal across America.  Obama wants citizens to follow the advice of the Department of Homeland Security and hide under their chairs when confronted by violent felons.

“I think he is wonderful. If he wouldn’t have been there, there could have been some innocent people shot,”  Mary Beach told the Gainesville Sun.

Surveillance video of the armed robbery shows two masked men wearing hoodies entering the Palms Internet Cafe, 8444 SW State Road 200 in Ocala, just before 10 p.m. Friday. One of the men had a gun and the other was armed with a baseball bat.

Our hero, Samuel Williams, was seated toward the back of the cafe dressed in a white shirt, shorts and baseball cap.

Duwayne Henderson, 19, entered the business, pointing a handgun at customers. The second man, Davis Dawkins, 19, is seen swinging a bat.

When armed robber Henderson turned his back, Williams drew his .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun and stands up. Williams takes two steps towards the armed robber, than assumes a crouched position as he fires two shots at Henderson, who immediately runs towards the front door.

Williams takes several more steps toward the door and continues firing as Henderson was still armed with a large caliber handgun as he exited and thus continued to pose a threat to law abiding citizens.

Williams shot both men with his .380 and their wounds are not life-threatening. Each was arrested hours later the same night, when they showed up at a hospital seeking free medical treatment.  Both were charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm and felony criminal mischief.

Henderson remained in the Marion County Jail late Monday in lieu of a $31,000 bond. Dawkins was released Sunday after posting an $11,000 bond. George Zimmerman’s Florida bond is set at $1 million dollars!  This is what happens when politics trumps justice.

Internet cafes are regulated by the state of Florida like the lottery. They offer sweepstakes entries, which are used to buy time on computer terminals that simulate casino-style games.  Senior citizens are known to bring cash to play the games all over Florida.

Obama wants to disarm citizens so thugs can rob more easily with less resistance.  It’s the same philosphy he has for voter fraud. Make it easy for criminals to vote for Democrats.

We the people will not give up our civil rights.  “Stand Your Ground” is an inalienable right.
