Stand And Fight for the Bill of Rights

For eighth grade student Jared Marcum, that phrase emblazoned on his NRA T-shirt turned out to be more than mere words — it became his rallying cry. Jared was arrested and suspended for wearing the shirt, which also displays an image of a Remington rifle, to his West Virginia school. But he stood up for his rights and when Jared returned to school following his suspension, he was not alone — dozens of students showed their support by wearing similar apparel. His family continues to fight to clear his name.

It's Not About Gun Control - It's About a Total Ban on Civilian Gun Ownership

Last night at the NRA Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas. Glenn Beck warned NRA members that the “freedom of all mankind is at stake” and the “right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

“They want to fundamentally transform our country and they’ve just about finished the project,” Beck told an audience of thousands Saturday evening at the NRA Stand and Fight Rally, “They feel they must regulate us until we comply, but I will not comply.”

Neither universal background checks nor any other proposed legislation is about gun control.  IT’S ALL ABOUT A TOTAL BAN AND SUBSEQUENT CONFISCATION OF CIVILIAN OWNED GUNS. PERIOD.

During his 1996 Senate campaign Obama was asked, “Do you support legislation to ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns?”  His answer was “Yes.”  When campaigning for president in 2004, Obama said,  “I continue to support a [federal] ban on concealed carry.”

Feinstein’s “assault weapons” ban, supported by both Obama and Bloomberg would have enacted confiscation over a generation.  Gun owners would not immediately surrender their firearms, but because of the angle of the grip on the shotgun, or more than a dozen other cosmetic caveats, it would be a felony offense to pass hundreds of models of legally purchased and possessed firearms to anyone else, including family members, when you die.  Millions of guns would be confiscated by the government and destroyed over a generation.mm“We’re not taking any guns away from you, just all future generations.”

James W. Porter II, who will be elected president by the NRA board of directors tomorrow said yesterday, “I hear some Americans say with the last election, the country is lost. No, no. An election was lost.”

“There’s another election more important for the second amendment right around the corner,” Porter said. “With the U.S. Senate and the House (both) up for grabs, we as individual NRA members can direct the massive energy of spontaneous combustion to gain the political high ground. We do that and Obama can be stopped.”

Progressives are working full time to drive a wedge between NRA leadership and its members. But their strategy is fundamentally flawed.  The NRA, like the GOP, loses members when their organizations move to the left, not to the right.  Progressives don’t get it.  The average NRA member does.

Efforts to pass gun-control legislation have only made the National Rifle Association stronger, as the membership rolls now surpass a record 5 million, NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre told the gun rights group’s annual meeting Saturday.

The state of the NRA is stronger and larger than it has ever been,” LaPierre said during the annual meeting attended by over 75,000 NRA members. “Our commitment to freedom is unwavering and our growth is unprecedented. … By the time we’re finished, the NRA must and will be 10 million strong.”

About one-tenth of the members have joined in the past six months, the NRA says.

Political elites and their allies in the media are pushing a gun-control agenda that will lead to gun confiscation and a more dangerous America.

The NRA, LaPierre said, is “at the middle of the river of America’s mainstream, and what we want is exactly what most Americans want,” he said.

NRA Institute for Legal Action Opens Annual Meeting in Houston

(HOUSTON)  “Where we see tragedy, Barack Obama and Michael Bloomberg, they see opportunity,” said Chris Cox, the executive director for the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (ILA).

“While we pray for God to comfort those suffering unimaginable pain, they rush to microphones and cameras, gather in war rooms on Capitol Hill and scheme about how to use that suffering to push their political agenda,” he continued. “That’s who they are and what they believe, but not us.”

Cox argued those who want more firearm regulations on the books are simply using the recent tragedies to push their political agendas.

“We are the moms and dads and sons of daughters of the National Rifle Association, and we want to prevent Newtown, not take advantage of it,” Cox said.

Wayne LaPierre, executive Vice President of the NRA described the main stream medai as distorting the gun debate in favor of gun control advocates and arguing that those in Washington and the “elites” are demonizing NRA members.

“We know that every word spoken today and throughout this weekend is going to be scrutinized by our opponents but let me make this perfectly clear, we will never back away from our resolve to defend our rights and the rights of all law-abiding American gun owners.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he never loses “faith in the founding fathers’ wisdom to include the Second Amendment of the Constitution among the Bill of Rights.”

“I wish that sentiment was found in more places, particularly a place whose boundaries are on the Potomac River,” he said.

“Our message to them, and our message to everyone in the country, is simple,” he continued, adding a plug to the Lone Star State. “There is still a place that loves freedom in America, where people can pursue their dreams free from the kneejerk government regulations that occur. That place is called Texas. That place is called Texas. We want to invite you, if you’re not already here, consider coming to the place that loves freedom.”

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas challenged Vice President Joe Biden to a debate. Biden lead a task force for the Obama administration on coming up with a set of gun control proposals. One of his recommendations was for women “to get a shotgun” and fire it indiscriminately in the air if they feel threatened by a home invader.

“I would like to invite the Vice President to engage in an hour long conversation and debate – how do we stop crime? And if Vice President Biden really believes the facts are on his side, that this is not simply an exercise in political power by the administration, then I think he would welcome the opportunity to talk about the sources,” he said.

Tara Kyle, the widow of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, gave an emotional speech at the event, where she fought back tears to describe her husband who had become known as a hero among members of the military and gun enthusiasts. In his autobiography, he claimed he killed 160 people during five combat tours in Iraq, a record for a U.S. military sniper.

“While publishers and some parts of the public are impressed with numbers of kills, that number did not interest him, a number that would have been much more important to him would have been if someone could have told him the number of lives he saved,” Taya Kyle said.

Former Pennsylvania Senator and 2012 GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum warned in a broader argument that Obama was attacking Americans’ freedoms on a larger scale.

He also praised NRA supporters for weathering the gun control debate, calling them “freedom warriors.”

“You stood tall–as unpopular as it seemed–but you stood for the truth. You didn’t let all the smoke and the mirrors of trying to hide behind a horrible tragedy, to turn you from the truth,” he said, though he received a more tepid response from the audience than some of the other speakers.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal spoke about the Obama’s obsession with gun control, and the Democrat’s failure to control spending, the deficit. He said Obama has also failed America on health care and tax reform.

“I believe he wants to be a good president, but he does have a lack of trust. He doesn’t trust Americans, like you and I trust Americans. He will not succeed until that changes,” he said.

Watch Senator Cruz pro-Constitution anti-crime message challenging crazy Joe Biden to an hour-long debate on gun violence.

“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” -George Mason Co-author of the Second Amendment during Virginia’s Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

Double Barrel Shotgun vs AR-15 for Home Defense

You have heard from the likes of Crazy Joe Biden and Slick Willy Clinton on the virtues of a Double Barrel Shotgun for home protection.  Of course their Secret Service details have not given up either their semi-auto Sig Sauer pistols loaded with 15+1 .357sig hollow point bullets or their 5.26 caliber modern sporting carbines with standard 30 round magazine capacity.  How do you protect your family from the growing home invasion threat in the United States?

In over 40 states you can decide the best way to protect your family in your home.  If you live in New York or New Jersey where home invasions are an epidemic, you need to move or hire retired law enforcement officers to protect your family.  Retired law enforcement officers are exempt from the AR-15 ban and 7 round magazine capacity limit imposed on the rest of you law abiding citizens.

The Secret Service has decided the best way to protect both Crazy Joe and Slick Willie.  I’m comfortable following their lead to protect my family in our home.

I’m on the way to the 2013 NRA Annual Meeting.  Hope to see many of you in Houston.

Hoplophobia - the Homophobia of Today's Progressives

HOPLOPHOBIA - irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against guns and firearms
HOMOPHOBIA- irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.

In America today both the main stream media and education system constantly praise homosexuals as heroes while vilifying all guns and firearms owners.  The message is crystal clear: All homosexuals are good. All gun owners are bad.  The Second Amendment no longer applies.

There is no greater danger to our Constitutional Republic and the Freedoms we are guaranted in the Bill of Rights, than Progressives.  PERIOD.
David “Cole” Withrow is a Princeton, North Carolina High School honors student who was arrested Monday and charged with a felony for having a shotgun in his truck in the school parking lot.

Yesterday, Todd Starnes reported on FOX News and Commentary that Eagle Scout Cole Withrow was just a few weeks from graduating with honors from his North Carolina high school, but now the active church member is facing a felony weapons charge and a precarious future after accidentally leaving a shotgun in his pickup truck in the school parking lot.

Most members of the Johnston County community, just southeast of Raleigh believe the 18-year-old is paying far too big a price for an honest mistake. Withrow had been skeet shooting with friends a day before, and only noticed he had left his shotgun in his truck on Monday morning as he reached to grab his book bag, said family friend Kimberly Boykin. When he realized his mistake, rather than leave school grounds, he went to the front office to call his mother for help.

“He didn’t know what to do,” Boykin, whose son is friends with Withrow, told Fox News. “If you jump in the truck and leave, then they get you for skipping school. Once you are there you have to say.

“I think it’s an injustice for this young man,” she added. “He’s a good guy. He’s loved by his classmates and his teachers. You don’t become an Eagle Scout by being a bad seed.”

She said the school district is sending a very bad message to students. Ya think?  A 17 year old Rapper in Chicago recently received probation for pointing a loaded handgun at a police officer.  Chicago is the largest Gun Free Zone in America yet has more gun crime, including murder than any other city in America.

Withrow, who did his senior class project on gun safety, locked the gun in his truck before going to call his mother. But when he asked her to come and take the gun, the trouble started.

“He was overheard in a private conversation with his mother explaining what happened,” Boykin said. “He could have told a story, but he told the truth.”

A spokesperson for Johnston County Schools confirmed to Fox News that they found the shotgun in Withrow’s locked vehicle.

“The law is very clear when a person knowingly and willingly brings a weapon onto educational property,” spokesperson Tracey Peedin Jones said. “The situation was turned over to law enforcement immediately.”

Boykin said he was also expelled for 365 days – meaning that he will not be able to graduate from high school.

NRA News reported last night that two teachers received 3 days suspension, after they previously self reported accidently leaving their hunting guns in vehicles parked at the same school. The teachers were not arrested nor charged with a crime.

ABC News is reporting that according to law enforcement officials, punishments are not the same for students and school administrators who commit crimes on school property in Johnston County.

One day after a Johnston County high school senior was expelled for having an unloaded gun on campus, ABC11 learned administrators only suspended an assistant principal for three days at the same school for a similar incident last year.

Withrow’s arrest has sparked outrage across this small town, southeast of Raleigh. A Facebook page has been launched to generate support for the boy – and students have launched a Twitter hash-tag “#FREECOLE.”

“He is very honest and respectable and would never intentionally try to hurt anyone,” said classmate Kelcie Thomas. “It was an honest mistake and my whole school is backing him up and supporting him fully.”

The Withrow family is not talking to the media on the advice of their attorney – but Boykin said the family is just heartbroken.

The school system is standing by their decision.

“Administration reacted promptly and the proper procedures and protocol were followed,” Jones said. “The situation was turned over to law enforcement immediately. As a result of our investigation, it is our best determination that students and staff were safe at all times.”

Boykin said the problem is that the laws are black and white.

“There’s no room for gray area,” she said. “There’s no room for discretion for human error.”

While his future remains unclear, Boykin said an encounter last week sums up the character of Cole Withrow.

“The kids got their caps and gowns on Friday and after school a group of them went to a local Mexican restaurant,” she recounted.

“They were being loud teenagers and carrying on – but when the waiter brought their food – the table got quiet. They all bowed their heads and they said the blessing. Cole was one of those kids.”

Boykin said she cried when another mom told her that story.

“They don’t always make the right decisions,” she said. “But I don’t know what other kind of decision he could have made at that point.”

Like many in this town of 1,000 residents, Boykin is dumbfounded.

“Honestly, my heart just broke,” she said. “I know that it was just an honest mistake.”

Cole’s future is uncertain. He was admitted to Campbell University and East Carolina University to attend school in fall. He was also awarded scholarships, but because he is currently charged with a felony and will not graduate, he will not able to attend college and could face prison.

Wake up America.  Progressives are the problem and we the people are the solution.

The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so. -Ronald Reagan
